The TreeHouse School ...Where Young Minds Climb

The TreeHouse School History

In 1994, Jewell Elliott began providing her children with a superior educational program which included not only academic subjects, but information which would nurture their physical, emotional, and spiritual growth. This beginning home school effort became the solution for other parents who were disappointed with the present public school experience. Mrs. Elliott, with the assistance of certified classroom personnel, uses the one room school-house model to ensure each child receives individualized instruction. This blended environment of multi-grade teaching allows students to progress naturally on any level of learning without stress or inappropriate peer pressure. There is no system for failure, but rather an emphasis is placed on success and development of self-discipline which enables any child to succeed in life.

The TreeHouse Setting

The TreeHouse School is located in a natural setting in Burkeville, VA. The facility is surrounded by pristine forest which is seen from all sides of the 2,000 square foot classroom. Enclosed by windows on three sides the classroom gives students a panoramic view of rolling hills, trees and a three acre pond. Mrs. Elliott uses forest trails and ponds to teach physical education, science, math, arts, language development, and the fundamental belief in a Higher Power. With access to over 50 acres of unspoiled nature, students use the outdoors as a natural extention of the classroom experience.
